Mark Harris may have been the last survivor of the lost continent of Atlantis. Though he appeared to be human, there were distinct differences between Mark and his air-breathing brethren.
Having grown up under the sea, Mark possessed gill tissue rather than lungs, which meant that he could survive for only about 12 hours before he had to return to the sea to "breathe". His hands and feet were webbed, he could swim faster than a dolphin, and he had superhuman strength and super-acute senses.
Despite his powers Mark had been washed ashore unconscious, where he was discovered by Dr. Elizabeth Merrill, who nursed him back to health. He then agreed to join her and a team of scientists from the Foundation for Oceanic Research in a project to learn more about life undersea. They traveled about in the "Cetacean," a special submersible vehicle, and their adventures included confrontations with extraterrestrial life and numerous evil scientists, notably the diabolical Mr. Schubert and his assistant, Brent. The foundation's director, preoccupied with budget problems, was C.W. Crawford.
Man from Atlantis was first seen in a series of four pilots that aired during the spring and summer of 1977 on varying days of the week. the first of these was telecast on March 4, 1977.
